Graphics:
Demo'd how to do line art and rub through to pic underneath.
Students chose their own pics to demo this technique - most used group photos they took at induction
Demo'd 2 techniques for doing text on a path and creating fancy borders.
Students chose what to do with the technique and what borders they would have to enhance thier creations

Students were divided up into groups where they had the challenge of carrying out different Photoshop tutorials ranging from beginner to expert. Expert groups requested permission to take away tutorials and work on at home. The digital art work produced was quite stunning. Students (experts) would have become frustrated if they had had to carry out on their own.

Students printed their best pieces of work for display.

2D Animation
Introduced the students to Lynda.com tutorials. Students thought that the tutorials very good but tiring if they attempted to watch too many before they carried out the activities. All agreed that they would be an outstanding resource to be dipped into in order to build up their knowledge.

Students carried out their pre-prepared master classes with one another and were delighted with their animations/creations

I demonstrated how to do a scrolling text box in Flash MX. which is adding to the creation of a website in Flash which is the weekly Animation masterclass that I am doing with the class. The class appear much more appreciative of my input when it has been shorter and following their opportunity of being the teacher in their group. The students evaluate each groups animations and are particularly complementary. Working in groups and making presentations of their work has also improved their social/communication skills.

Graphics: HN Students were given a task to create innovative cards: debit, credit, coffee, library and ID which should all look as if they are issued by the same company but be different. They had to use one of the following themes: Air, water, fire, outer space. (Fire was the most popular choice) They were to use either a complimentary or monochomatic theme. The students had to display at least one of the cards by the end of the session in print format. They were to use the tutor as a resource if they wished to do a particular task but could not. They were also to use the web and the help menu. Students who spent a little time researching on the WWW prior to development produced the best work.

Multimedia Degree Students: I gave the students the option of carrying out the different lectures and tutorials in a different order from that prescribed, however, the students thought the existing order quite good and opted to retain. But does make itinerary their agreed choice of acquisition.

Class Cover: Internet: Web Design with Dreamweaver

Students had to work in groups and create prototype website for a Design Company. They had to create a name, write a profile for each of the members of the Design Company and design the interface. Each group was given an evaluation criteria and had to go round each of the groups and evaluate and give marks out of 10 for name of company, colour scheme, layout, content, aprropriateness of font, use of white space. They appeared to work extremely enthusiastically at this but groups of 5 or 6 were much less productive as a whole than smaller groups. They enjoyed the evaluative exercise and again were very positive in their comments eg did not say a site was poor but stated it was bit basic.
